Solo le vittime e le loro famiglie dovrebbero prendere la decisione di tornare alla polizia. Il quotidiano britannico The Guardian ha riferito Mercoledì che abbia un documento in tal senso. Tale documento è stato recentemente pubblicato per i capi della chiesa da parte del Vaticano. Non è necessario alle autorità locali, la polizia o al Pubblico Ministero, in modo che il messaggio è ai vescovi. Il loro unico compito è quello di gestire le accuse internamente. Una commissione speciale viene commissionato da Papa Francesco ha giocato per la tutela dei minori, probabilmente non ha alcun ruolo nella stesura delle linee guida e la formazione dei vescovi. Alleen de slachtoffers en hun familie zouden het besluit moeten nemen aangifte bij de politie te doen. De Britse krant The Guardian meldt woensdag dat het een document van deze strekking bezit. Dat document zou onlangs door het Vaticaan aan de kerkleiders zijn uitgegeven. Het is niet nodig naar de lokale autoriteiten, de politie of het Openbaar Ministerie te gaan, zo luidt de boodschap aan de bisschoppen. Hun enige opdracht is beschuldigingen intern te verwerken. Een speciale commissie die in opdracht van paus Franciscus opkomt voor de bescherming van minderjarigen, heeft waarschijnlijk geen rol gespeeld bij het opstellen van de richtlijnen en de training van bisschoppen. Die commissie liet eerder weten dat het melden van kindermisbruik juist een morele verplichting voor geestelijken is.
